When anyone is asked to name a famous clothing brand, very few would mention the attributes of a Charles Frederick Worth outfit. This English gentleman, who exhibited in Paris in the mid 19th century, is claimed to be one of the first people to take designer clothing to a commercial level. Many of his designs had an historic element built into them and he placed a major emphasis on costumes that had good fit and feel characteristics. These themes can still be seen today in many of the exciting new ranges of designer clothing. One main purpose of buying designer clothing is to look distinctive from the rest and also feel a million dollars-even if your purchase doesn’t quite cost that much.

Global branded clothing is now available to almost anyone who has disposable income: gone are the days when it was restricted to the fortunate few. There is such an exciting choice of designs and fabrics in the fashion world of today that take into account personal comfort, innovative styling and that all-important mark of distinction. Some designer houses specialise on specific themes; Lyle and Scott, for example, have a full range of knitwear that contains their own special handwriting and styling. They cater mainly for the golfing fraternity which could have something to do with their Scottish background. Their quality designer clothes are much sought after with their famous eagle trademark, not too sure if they help to bring the handicap down though.
